Poor patient adherence to medication treatments and solutions for overcoming compliance barriers as illustrated by antiplatelet therapy

The article is focused on the issues of poor patient adherence to medication treatments, including antiplatelet drugs, its reasons, and solutions for overcoming compliance barriers. As today, treatment remains low leading a higher risk cardiovascular complications. Poor acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) mainly linked relatively frequent development gastrointestinal side effects. this problem include use lowest effective doses different formulations: enteric coated buffered. efficacy safety these formulations are compared in article. Buffered formulation (e.g. ASA + magnesium hydroxide) similar plain as regards activity prevalence "aspirin- resistance", while intake associated with lower enteropathy gastropathy even ASA. This particularly important patients obesity diabetes mellitus, conditions an affected rate absorption from small intestine. Based study findings conclusion made that buffered should be preferred use. literature review illustrated by clinical case.
